« Identité »
It’s one of the four “Jeu de dames” towers; it rises to almost four meters and claims to be the Alpha of a mankind to become: “Méti-sable”. “Méti-sable” in search of identity, would belong to the insect type, being humanoid at the same time. With its Proud demeanour, it seems to proclaim its dignity. Its shape borrowed from the myth of the Amazons, or some Massaï postures, recalls feminity and warlike determination at the same time. By a subtle freedom of movement, she seems to break free from a straitjacket, symbolizing in this case by the squared trunk of the Tamarin. If this “Méti-sable” just tried to express the desire to be a woman, proud, worthy, free … The freedom of the origin itself maybe?

« Maman »
This is my wife’s first maternity carved in the trunk of a prehistoric tree, named Fanjan. Could it be the exact moment of the greatest happiness dying to be part of the eternity?
« La madone des ordures »
This is the second maternity, carved in the noble Tamarin timber. It seems to emerge from a pile of junk.
Curves and counters of this volume let circulate a tender light, as if it tried to demonstrate the tenderness between a mother and her child. However copper leaks in cracks, due to the expansion of the wood, give the impression that she is irrigated by the substratum coming from the waste.
Could it mean that the love of a mother for her child is divine? That this love could be able to sublimate everything?

« Dame Mère Nature »
The second tower of “Jeu de Dames” is almost 4 meters tall as well. Once again, the maternity seems to be compelled to grow by the laws of nature. If the last tower had to be released from its industrial shape, the second tower shows us its freedom through the marks on its trunk, suffered by natural phenomena. This mother nature “Méti-sable” whose its shape seems to be carved by the wind, gives the impression to be compelled by a spoiled child that she is carrying on her shoulders and another child, already too tall but who still needs to curl up in her.
What if, like a fruit tree, this mother were wearing, against all odds, the fruit of her womb, until its grown up.
« Réunion de famille »
This mass of timber, pre-carved by the nature, like its carrying its own memory, affirm itself like a source of inspiration. It seems to evoke the family and the island. This family who lives and shapes the island, has amber for main color, the color of the Tamarin. It evokes the blend between Africa, Europe and Asia. It shows, however, an ebony skinned women carved in the Franjan and a spoiled child watching over the trib. This child, patterned in a patchwork of stones, represents the emblem of the magmatic fusion which had shaped the island and the mind of its people.
This family who seems fusional and is represented only by women and children turning their back to the sea.
What if, always being alone with their children against the dangers of the nature, those women became protective, even matriarchal?

« Fou j’erre »
Would be a “Méti-sable” carved in the Fanjan. She seems to navigate on a sailboard without any sail and in a remarkable way the board would be made of stone when the mast is made of copper. This could let think that this woman who is wondering around today in this dangerous ocean could come from a smooth world.
In brief, this sculpture made from a prehistorical timber, today endangered, wouldn’t suppose the migration of a nation who tried to run away from human madness?
« Dame voilée et dévoilée »
It is a tribute for the cartoonist Georges Wolinski who perished at the Charlie Hebdo’s headquarter, killed by Islamic terrorists. Like a totem, it steps in as the third tower of “Jeu de dames”. For forty years, Georges Wolinski sublimated woman, with a great humor. So it is a woman from a mankind to become “Méti-sable”, who genuinely celebrate the memory of the creator.
However, instinctively, her nudity find itself hidden by basful gesture.
What if the this nudity characterized itself with this transcparency?
What if this veiled then unveiled woman was made of glass?

« Dame Antenne »
This sculpture was carved with a classic technique, for the timber part, but using other materials, built with different techniques of assemblage, recycling, misappropriation of different items, puts itself in a new era and question our humanity.
In fact this little woman “Méti-sable” just arrived at the time when the digital and the genetic are making a new world, with the mobile phone, the GPS and the genetic mutation.
So this little woman, with a strong grip made of stone, full of traditions, opens her antennas to the world. However, as if she wanted to protect what was left of her privacy, maybe her antenna could be both an umbrella and a lightning rod.
« Vannobole »
Vannobole is a “Méti-sable” made of dead corals, in a discobolus way. She carrying on her back not a disc, but a valve of bronze. The valve is the vegetal plate used to select the rice.
With the energy that she releases, would this “Méti-sable” try to give back its life to this corals?
When she is using her valve in the kitchen, this valve of bronze, isn’t she trying to run away from her housewife world where she seems to be imprisoned?
What if this “Méti-sable” was telling us that every struggle for a fair cause is a guaranty of freedom for the woman that she is?

« Dame building Shanghai »
It is the forth tower of this game and its seems to tell that Shanghai would be a beautiful woman, who, from its high heels, dreams to touch the sky.
What if these shoes, barely touching the floor, were symbolizing the foundations of the skyscrapers, notifying the recklessness of this beautiful woman, here representing Shanghai?
« Dame Chaussure »
This sculpture represents the relation, frequently strange, between a woman and her shoes, more precisely with her high heel shoes.
Lady Shoes, who is lounging in her unique shoe, could be the representation of Cinderella’s tale, well rooted in the collective memory?

« Dame du savoir »
This sculpture carries within it a “Méti-sable” made of terracotta, sitting on an ovoid shaped earth globe, carrying in her hands a touch pad.
Could she be the shortcut between the origins of women (Lucy maybe) et the connected woman that we know nowadays, winking at Hypatie of Alexandria who died from her thirst of knowledge.
What if this sculpture represented this quest for knowledge that women always had, giving them the way to freedom, sometimes by risking their own lives?
« Dames Pouvoir »
Those two dancers, one white, the other brown, imprisoned in a thimble, look like they are handling a puppet, a little man with a large peacock tail.
Didn’t they have the real power here, when they seem to be prisoners of clichés where women are usually shut away like cooking, cleaning, dancing, sewing …
Are they not clever enough to let to the men have the power on the outside, but not inside the family?

« Dame Miroir »
If the mirror refers to the myth of Narcisse, even spells, it still lets a part of mystery today.
Dame Miroir looks like she tried to break the mystery by going to the other side. She found a space with constellations where a mirror play puts in abyss the space where she is.
What if she was inside herself? What if she was a part of the universe?
« Dame Tronc »
It could be one of those women on TV from who we know only the top of their bodies.
Would she be one of those women who were stars on TV the last few years, and where obviously famous thanks to their beauty and intelligence?
They were fantasizing, generating greed …
What if “Dame Tronc” is illustrating the expression “l’appel des sirens”?
